Again a new release. There is one more crash fixed, but the main change is that Bleeding Edge should now also be independent from the Linden mandatory updates. As always have a look at the change log has all the details (it should especially be helpful for users who are new to my viewers, see the bottom of the file).
I consider this a milestone release. I'll stick with the name, but this is not Bleeding Edge anymore. It's really as good as it can get for now.
Btw, I will go on vacation for two weeks starting Friday night and when I come back will sure have to catch up with the backlog from my RL business, so don't expect much news from me over the next three weeks. During that time the Lindens will probably come out with 1.18.4 as a release-candidate and turning that into a Nicholaz Edition will start a new cycle. We will then have to see what will happen based on that.
So BE-s (or the OS-o from earlier this week) now being independent from possible Linden mandatory updates and with many crashed fixed, the current versions should give you a smooth ride on the viewer side for quite some time.
Source code is also on the server already. If you do Linux or Mac builds, just drop me a line for a blog post with platform versions.
Disclaimer: This viewer is unofficial and although I am doing my best to make it better than the release viewer, it may contain extra bugs and you will have to trust me that there is no malicious code in it. Please also understand that it runs on the main grid with your real Second Life account and inventory. Also read the disclaimer/header in the Install.txt in my archive.
First make sure you have the Linden release candiate 1.18.3.5 (download link) or the now official Linden 1.18.3.5 (download link) installed.
Then download nicholaz-BE-s.zip from my server and while the download runs, have a look at the installation instructions and the change log!
After the download completes, follow the instructions and make sure they go into the right folder!
If something goes wrong with this version, go to the previous-versions folder. BE-p to BE-r are still on the server, they are pretty good already and they also run with Linden 1.18.3.5 (both RC and official).
PS: There is an in-world group for announcements of my releases: Search, Groups, "Nicholaz"

As usual, many thanks to Nick for your tireless efforts. 1 question before you go, is there any difference between 1.18.3.5(RC)and the now "official" 1.18.3.5? Is it worth changing over or is it different in name only?
Enjoy your vacation!
The source between the 1.18.3.5 RC and official version are the same, so I don't see a reason to change it (I'm still using the RC environment myself).
And thanks ... I will (enjoy it :-))
Thank you, Nicholaz. *smiles*
I wish there were a Nicholaz edition for other programs I use. Pidgin, for instance, seems to have random issues with file tranfers.
And since I'm using XP until I change my graphics card to Nvidia, I like to fantasize about a Nicholaz edition of that, too. ;)
Enjoy your break time, Mr Beresford. No, enjoy it double. *hugs*
Thanks for all your efforts Nicholaz. Have a nice vaccation!
Is it only me who has problems unzip nicholaz.exe? I've tried with both winzip and winrar and on two different computers. Tried to download it several times.
Hugs

Hi Ninnie,
I have spoke to some people in world that have had trouble with a corrupt file reaching them. They solved it by using their neighbors wireless to download. It seems that incomplete versions sometimes get stuck in ISP caches. So repeated downloads will not fix anything, you get the same file from the cache.
I would suggest if you still have problems, try to get the file through an alternative Internet connection.

Thanks for answering. It is just strange because I've never had problems before. But just with some of the nicholaz-zips (even earlier on). I didn't even know my ISP had a cache, and I do actually doubt it. But thanks anyway!
Do some one maybe have an alternative download location?
Hugs

Try this one for an alternate download location:

Anyone notice LL slipped fmod.dll 3.74 out the door instead of 3.75 with the last RC? I'm also seeing:
WARNING: LLAudioChannelFMOD::cleanup error: An invalid parameter was passed to this function
.. with both versions. I'm wondering if this may be responsible for some performance issues.
Replying to myself here, but I checked the JIRA, and it appears LL were told about this back in June, but decided it's a "won't fix".

What are they smoking down there? @_@
Just had an odd thought today as I'm waiting for the texture picker to load...
Seems like it takes about as long for the texture picker to load - each time I want to pick a texture - as it does for my inventory.
Could it be reloading my inventory for itself only each time?
Nicholaz,
Thank you so much. The alternative downloadlocation worked just fine. Keep up the extreeemly good work. I recomend you version to all I meet in SL.
Happy weekend!
Hugs
Ninnie
Thanks a million for another great release. I wouldn't know if I would still be in SL without your tedious work in improving the client.
Have an excellent vacation and see you when coming back from it with your 'batteries recharged' for another 'debugging session' that is sure to come.
Of Course great thanks to Nicholaz for all his hard work :)
Random lost connection since yesterday is something new for me.
Not new (starter at last Linden update) is the large time waiting with texture picker and failing landbuys when I not do the steps really slow. By the way, I am not a land-trader. buying and abandoning is just a part of mij managening job :)

Hi Nicholaz, I have been using SL since Feb of this year, with no major probs. Then on Sat, my SL client would not load! It crashes out within 2 sec, cannot get as far as the login screen. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted. So I tried your verson, but I get an error, xul.dll not found. Any ideas what that is?
Can you help??
OK, found out what I was doing wrong with your viewer. But it crashes just the same as the Regular SL viewer. I double click the icon, the tab on the task bar appears, then it stalls. I get the Not responding message from the task manager.
Confused!
