I have a few more tidbits to share ...
The new viewer seems to be doing fine. A bit over 100 downloads within the first 24 hours, mainly favorable or even enthusiastic feedback and no known bugs that aren't in the official viewer also.
Mentioning downloads, I had a look at the server download stats and over the last six months almost 7500 people downloaded one of my versions (the majority went for BE-v), and that In the light of the fact that I have published practically no new builds since November 2007. We will have to see if the same is going to happen for the EC-e version.
In fact a few people have taken the opportunity to donate despite some quirks (donations page came up in German). I already mentioned that I will be on vacation (plane leaves tomorrow nine'ish) for 10 days and am happy to announce that all the beer is now paid for already, even a few cocktails and the odd dinner too ... YAY!
Before I distract you too much from your OwnExperience with my blurp here, let me just say thank for all the beer and fish and for the overwhelming feedback in general.
Enjoy your OtherLife with Eye Candy, while I will enjoy FirstLife with all it's nice features ... *waves cheerfully*
Nick
PS: If you saw a different post here yesterday, I deleted that, because I already had celebrated the first few donated beers (well wine actually) and when I looked at it today with a fresh set of eyes, the post seemed pretty irrelevant (some rant about something on sldev, I wonder what I found so interesting about that yesterday, but wine does that sometimes).

Hi,
Just sent you some dollars.
Have a nice vacation.
I did have to read your [now deleted] post a few times to make sense of it, but I still thought it interesting nonetheless. :)
I don't speak German either, so my donation was sent in Lindens. Enjoy your vacation!
Thanks Gerhshom and Triple! (I certainly hope the page now comes up in English though).
Triple: Ouch ... that remark was one of those Linden things that make me groan, but really nothing for a whole blog post ... so let's just say I was a bit confused :-)
Have fun on your vacation Nicholaz, I hope my donation makes it to you in time to get you something on your trip. If I had known sooner, I'd have sent it then. I'm so glad you didn't give up on us, it's nice to know that despite of all the bullshit you still have us in mind. This really brightened up my day and made me smile. SL has been nothing but torment and frustration as of late, and I know I'm not alone in this. Thanks for trying to make things better for all of us, it really does matter to us, the users.
Well, at this precise point, I'm suffering the lack of financial stability, but I'm good for pimping you out when I get the opportunity.
I'm quite fond of EC-e, actually--I *finally* have a viewer that will show me Glow and Windlight features, without eating all transient memory on my machine! So thank you for that.
And no, I'm not noticing a ton of bugs--in fact, even the two friendslist 'feature'? Doesn't bother me in the least. :)
Hi Guys,
I have installed this viewer next to my bleeding edge-v for 1-18-5-3.
The problem is they mess-up eachothers settings. Because of my older machine I can use the windlight version, with repaired memory leak, only for taking pictures. Has anyone an idea if it is possible to use both viewers without they mess-up eachothers settings? (I am on windows 2000 pro).
Greetz,
Sylvia
Well didnt make it in time for your vacation but you can have a few beers on me when you get back to the sunny states. :)
Thanks for all the hard work and dedication (I know its a lot of fun and addicting for you as a passionate programmer) but for us its a godsend. Saving us from the future blue windows soon to take over our SL veiwing pleasure. Oh and not to mention that nasty memory leak problem. Freedom finally along with eye candy. Working great so far!
I still can't get 1.19 to work on the mac either with Barney's version or the RC. However, I do have one thing that would help many people a great deal.
The new physics engine allows building up to 4096M. 1.19 and 1.18, but not 1.20, cap several options at 768. A friend of mine found that the map can be fixed by changing floater_world_map.xml in the appropriate skins directory, people could use the map to teleport above 768.
Does anyone know where the build cap is, the one that stops you from moving objects or creating them above 768 is? This change would open space that already exists to lots of users who don't want to ... I can't say up grade, and the only word I can think of is four letters...
I know you may not be planning to give a lot of effort into the 1.19 branch, but I wanted to let you know that on *vista* there is still a major memory leak that rears it's ugly head in crowds. Basically, I watch the footprint climb fairly rapidly up to 1700mb followed very shortly by a crash. :(
XP seems to be unaffected by that particular bug, thankfully.
(Sorry, meant to add that my comment was for a if-you-work-on-it-again thing.)
To give Nick time to relax in Spain...I've just updated the Cool Viewer for Windows with the new feature to build / TP over 768m and up to 4096m high. If someone needs that *smile*.
