Even more about 1.19

Hi Folks! Thanks for all the feedback recently and sorry for not answering requests, but RL work didn't leave much headroom for SL.

Anyway, I did make a test compile with 1.19 some time back, and I guess I can implement something based on it (maybe not the full set of Nicholaz features and reversals but most). I'll see if I can do a test with the 1.19 viewer this weekend (thanks Alexandra for mentioning that it went gold! :-)). As said, it will probably be a compromise, but OTOH I guess it'll be better than nothing.

Regarding RestrainedLife features: Sorry, I understand it would be nice, but it would cost time which I simply don't want to spend. I'm already juggling way to many patches and have too many things on my mind.

But check this blog after the weekend for more news about 1.19 and we'll see how it goes from there...

As usual: If you're new to the Nicholaz Editions, please choose version BE-v for a start. If you have your own builds, feel free to advertise them in the comments and if you're interested in other builds, check the comments in this post and the recent ones.

More on Version 1.19

I had a look at the 1.19 version this week, but the changes will take more time than expected, which is more time than I want to spend at the moment. So I'm sorry to say, but for now there won't be an 1.19 from me. Hopefully 1.18.5.3 plus BE-v will still work for a while, but it may be prudent to look for alternatives.

But Boy Lane has 1.19 versions of his viewer (based on Henri's Cool Viewer, see the comments to the posts here).

Boy Lane says: "The Windows version of the Cool Viewer in 1.19.0.79627 is finally working without crashing...up on my blog. With the old userinterface of course and RestrainedLife 1.10.2. Have fun! Boy (which is a girl *smile*)." and (s)he also posted later: "Linux and Windows Cool Viewers updated to 1.19.0.79890: (link) (link)"

Version 1.19 Odds and Ends

I heard that version 1.19 is RC now, so I gave it a a short look. The Linden source compiles right away which is a nice surprise after the last versions I've seen, but the source breaks a lot of my patches. From what I see, bringing them up to speed into will be tedious (merging patches after the underlying source changed is one of the most awful tasks I can think of at the moment), so don't hold your breath waiting for my next version. I'll however try to get it done when 1.19 goes gold.

Meanwhile Henri posted a comment that that he has an experimental 1.19 of his Cool Viewer for Linux (a blend of Henri's own patches, some Nicholaz patches and the Restrained Life viewer). Cool Viewer is pretty close to what I do, with reverting the user interface and undoing some other brilliant Linden ideas. I guess Boy Lane will soon have a Windows version of the Cool viewer too (he already has a Windows 1.18 with and without Windlight). See the text and the comments from Henri and Boy at my last post.

Also, if you have anything related to 1.19 (own builds, general comments, etc.) feel free to post them here.

Last but not least, if you are new to all this and if you are looking for a Nicholaz Edition, please scroll down for previous posts with my own versions, especially this one.
