I have updated my own three versions to fix a few things.
Before going into the details though, I would like to mention that I have been looking around current viewers I found Henry's and Boy's work excellent (gives them a double thumbs up). There may yet be other good alternate viewers out there, but running the latest CoolViewer just gave me a very nice experience ... good straightforward GUI, crash proof and newest features. They have been around almost as long as my viewers and they are certainly trustworthy, even if you raise an eyebrow about the RLV-extension (which is disabled by default and which you will not even notice unless you turn it on). Highly recommended!
However if you want to stick with Nicholaz Edition anyway, the new changes I made include a crash with new sculpties (oblong scupt maps) and include something to handle a possibly 'breaking' server change which Teh Lab said they wanted to implement in the future. The oblong scuplties still don't render correctly (they look more like an explosion in the prim factory) but at least they will not crash the viewer whenever you get near one.
For download instructions etc. just see the previous install/release notes. You'll find them jumping from the version overview to the respective three flavors and just ignore references in the text regarding the specific EC/BE/OS version numbers. The new versions are EC-i, BE-z and OS-r and the instructions are still valid otherwise.
I don't expect any problems, but it's been a while since I built a viewer, so I will leave the previous versions on the server (you can roll back by simply installing the previous version if something isn't working).
Update: Latif made me aware of another security patch. I am uploading EyeCandy with version h this moment and will include it also in the upcoming OldSchool and Bleeding edge viewers. Please make sure to read the Install.txt file regarding the message_template.msg file.
Again, the version numbers with the fixes are EC-i BE-z and OS-r.
Enjoy your other reality ...

Hi Nicholaz,
Thanks for the update.
I'll probably stick with yours for now since my basic philosophy is if it ain't broke don't fix it; and yours continues to work for me. However it is nice to know that there are other good ones in case I ever need to change.
Every so often I run into people that say they are using your viewer if the subject of viewers comes up.
Your viewer is still the best! .. And that's not just for the sentimental value *smiles big*
Glad to hear some of you are still out there using my stuff, so I'll try to keep it at least running ...
Hi Nich, nice to see you alive! And thanks for the compliments. I too use your Old School on an older HP laptop with Intel GMA915 :).
Nice to see youre still around :)
Are you aware of the https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Deprecated_Protocol_Features that is going into effect arounf May 9th?
@anonymous April 29, 2009
Yes, these should be included in this round of fixes. Not sure if they will work but I have used a changeset from Henry and applied it to my viewers.
Good to see you again ~winks~
Nick would be nice if you implented the slider for edit land in landtools i do alot of terraforming and that option speeds things up alot thats only reason i dont use youre cleint animore right now :)
before i used it always very light and smooth walking in sl
Hi Nicholaz,
Good to see that you are alive and kickin :)
Would you mind doing a review/few comments on the Hippo viewer. It is the viewer that is recommended by opensim and it has a few things I appreciate a lot. Like the old upperbar icons, the friends button. the old minimap T's and some other old UI things that where better. It also has a handy feature for logging into multiple grids. However as I value your opinion on viewers the most, I would love to see your thoughts on it. :)
@Jantje
The Hippo viewer actually uses all the patches from the Cool SL Viewer...
It is therefore just another branch of the Cool SL Viewer, with some changes specific to OpenSim simulators (note that the Cool SL Viewer also entitles you to log in OpenSim grids via a simple selection combo on its login screen), but with the drawback that it is updated much less frequently and does not have a legacy renderer branch either (for "old" computers).
I know you don't update as often anymore, but wanted to share the depreciated features list just in case it's useful.
umm is this still for the Linden 1.19.1.4 viewer, or newer as they're up to ver 1.22 now
Looks like LL is blocking older viewers (1.20 and older) soon. Maybe because of stuff like changed login etc. I really hope the old BE versions of your viewer then still work with a set (and different) channel. If not, are you going to make them compatible (fixing login routine or whatever prevents a login)?
The Windows builds of the genuine Cool SL Viewer are now available from the master site (http://sldev.free.fr/).
New versions will also be announced on the forum (http://sldev.free.fr/forum/).
Boy Lane is no more the builder for the Cool SL Viewer. People interested in the dirty stuff behind this change can see the reasons on the forum (in Announcements).
You don't miss a chance to spit at people, don't you Henri?
Cool Viewer is still very much alive :) at http://my.opera.com/boylane
For the particular issue of Henri's continued and obviously intentional and provocative violations of Linden Lab trademarks "SL", "SecondLife" and the "Eye-in-Hand" logo you may want to have a read at http://my.opera.com/boylane/blog/cessation-of-henri-beachamps-quot-cool-sl-viewer-quot-for-windows
Sorry Nick that this was carried to your blog.
I do not violate any trademark (you do: I can still see on your blog the blue "eye in hand" you created a while ago from LL's green one), and unlike you, Boy, I do not steal people's software, rename it and pretend it's mine.
I at least had the elegance not to give a direct pointer on the post in my forum, where are the very proofs of your lies and dishonesty.
Anyway...
The latest genuine Cool SL Viewer has been released today and implements the two patches Nicholaz just provided.
Thank you, Nicholaz ! :-)
Tillie,
not sure what they have upcoming in the wings. I did fix the deprectated protocol feature and when they break something that can be fixed with reasonable effort I'll update my viewers.
Nick
Jantie,
I've really lost track of the viewers out there and never really been to an open grid and both these things that don't pique my curiosity.
Nick
Henri,
Boy,
I've read both your blog/forum posts and guess the break up was inevitable, if for nothing else than differing views on things.
However, in my view you're not doing yourself (each him/herself) a favor playing it out in the open like this.
Nick
Dear Nicholaz,
With the updated BE-Z (on my new laptop) I am quite having trouble seeing flexy prims on my avatar. BE-W still works on my desktop (which soon I will no longer see much) but I was wondering if there is nothing I can do to fix the problem.
So about the flexy prims...The only image that tells me that the flexy prims are there is a faint outline on the bottom outer edge of the shapes and that is about all I can see. Other people can see me fine....I do not quite understand it.
Thank you very much for your time.
Those of you who had problems with BE-z and flexiprims, please try BE-z2.
Nick
